An Afternoon with Cheryl Cran

In partnership with The Kamloops & District Chamber of Commerce, we brought Cheryl Cran, renowned speaker, best-selling author, and future of work expert, to Kamloops on March 21st, 2024, for an engaging afternoon.

Chery Cran’s keynote, The Future is Human | How Being a Better Human is Key to the Future of Work, inspired and motivated the Kamloops business community.

This event benefited from funding Community Futures Thompson Country secured to conduct in-community workshops supporting rural businesses and the entrepreneurial community. The funding is provided by Community Futures BC and its Disaster Recovery and Economic Development Initiative (DREAI). Ultimately that program is funded by the Federal Regional Development Agency, Pacific Economic Development Canada (PacifiCan).

With Cheryl Cran’s keynote, we and the Kamloops & District Chamber of Commerce aimed to share practical strategies on how teams can stay collaborative in a hybrid workplace and the motivation to empower small business owners and professionals to adapt and embrace change, helping them thrive in rural communities. This event was a unique opportunity for small business owners, team leaders, and business professionals to gain insights that can inspire and drive economic growth in our region.

Cheryl’s keynote covered:

  • Research on the social trends that are driving the urgent need for everyone to develop ‘crucial human skills.’
  • How to reframe challenges, setbacks, and disruptions into elevated opportunities to evolve and grow.
  • The 4 C’s of being a super crucial human – next-level skills of compassion, creativity, conscious communication, and collaboration.
  • Why LQ (love quotient) is even MORE important than EQ (emotional intelligence) and how to apply it in life and work.
  • How to leverage the ‘me to we’ mindset model to increase collaboration in a hybrid workplace reality.
  • Actionable models and strategic ideas on how to elevate crucial human skills and apply them in real-time in life and work for accelerated success in all relationships.

Our team was delighted to witness a diverse and enthusiastic group coming together to learn how being a better human is key to the future of work, how we can adapt to the rise of automation, and so much more!

We want to thank the Kamloops & District Chamber of Commerce for supporting this event and look forward to collaborating on future ventures! Also, we’d like to thank our event vendors—An Afternoon with Cheryl Cran wouldn’t have been the same without your skillset.

Lastly, a massive thank you to Cheryl Cran for sharing her wisdom and expertise with our community. Her knowledge truly inspired us all, and her ability to receive texts for on-the-fly Q&A—let’s say our post-event survey found that skill quite noteworthy.
