Friday, August 22nd, was an incredible day celebrating youth entrepreneurship in our city. Thank you to everyone who supported, cheered on, and visited a stand—together, we brought an exciting new program to life in Kamloops!
This inaugural year, 80 youth registered, with 27 stands officially mapped across the city. In the end, 53 young entrepreneurs launched their own small businesses for a day. The creativity, energy, and dedication they poured into their stands were truly inspiring.
But Lemonade Day is about more than lemonade. Youth participants worked through an interactive curriculum designed to teach the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. Along the way, they created business plans, learned how to budget, practiced customer service, and developed marketing strategies—all skills that will serve them well beyond this one-day event.
At Community Futures Thompson Country, supporting Lemonade Day ties directly to our mission of fostering rural economic development. By allowing young people to experience entrepreneurship firsthand, we are planting seeds of confidence, innovation, and leadership. These qualities build stronger communities, inspire future business owners, and support the long-term economic resilience of our region.
This event would not have been possible without the incredible support of our community. A massive thank-you goes to our City Champion, Stacey Owen, our Sweet Spot sponsors who donated space for youth stands, and our generous event sponsors who contributed everything from branded cookies to gift cards, stickers, coupons, and financial support. Your contributions made this day possible.

“This was my first Lemonade Day, and I learned that having a business is exciting. Next time, I want to add snacks and my hand-made crafts to go with my lemonade.”
