You have an idea for a new business, but is your business idea viable? Do you have a market? Will you need a business plan? A license? Business insurance, or a loan? We can help you find answers to these questions and more. Are you ready for entrepreneurship?

How We Help & What You’ll Learn


Business Planning Workshops – 7 to 10 weeks

Spend 7 weeks with us learning about running a business, and creating a plan to support your success. Attend two, three hour group sessions per week covering topics like:

  • Business Basics
  • Goal Setting for Success
  • Branding & Marketing to YOUR unique Customer
  • Customer Service Excellence
  • Business Financials
  • Business Operations

Guest speakers offer presentations on business banking & accounting, business insurance, legal matters pertaining to business, and the use of social media for marketing. At the end of 7 weeks you have an additional 2-3 weeks to finalize your plan. Ongoing coaching is available on request and living allowance is extended through the start-up phase for WorkBC participants.

Start dates for Spring Business Boot Camps are April 11th & May 30th. WorkBC clients seeking program referral to receive financial support should apply to WorkBC 4-6 weeks before the Business Boot Camp start dates to allow time to attend the required Self Employment Orientation & Business Concept Development phase of services.

What is Business Boot Camp?
Business Boot camp is a 10-week program to assist individuals in Business Plan Development. Our blended delivery model means the program curriculum is housed online and delivered virtually in a group format. Topics covered include Business Planning, Branding & Marketing, Customer Service, Business Operations & Business Financials. Local business professionals deliver information sessions on banking, accounting, insurance, legal considerations, and marketing strategies.

How much does your Business Boot Camp cost?
There’s no charge to Boot Camp participants with a referral from WorkBC. If you are not a WorkBC client, the fee is $499.

What is the schedule for Business Boot Camp?
New Boot Camp groups start each month. Participants meet once per week for Q & A, guest speaker presentations, and feedback from a business analyst.

How is the Business Boot Camp program delivered?
Most Business Boot Camp’s weekly sessions are delivered virtually; however, some workshops, such as Business Networking, are in person when possible.

Do I need specific business skills or experience to participate in this program?
An aptitude for using computers is beneficial but not required; you will be working online, so you will need a PC or a laptop. General knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software is recommended.
